Sulu Köfte (Meatballs in Tomato Sauce)

Here i posted one of turkish dish recipe...



Serves 3 - 4

Ingredients for Meatballs
~400 gr ground beef
1/4 cup Turkish bulgur, small grain, for making köfte
a handful of rice, washed and drained
1 medium size of onion, grated or finely chopped
1 egg
1 tsp of dried mint
2 cloves of garlic, grated or finely chopped
3 – 5 stem of parsley, finely chopped
1 tsp of red pepper flakes
Salt
Pepper
1/2 cup of flour (all purpose)

Ingredients for Sauce
1/2 of onion, grated or finely chopped
1 tbs of tomatoes paste
1 tomatoe, peeled, chopped (or 2-3 tbs of crushed tomatoes in a can)
2 tbs of extra virgin olive oil
1 tbs of butter
2 cup of water or beef stock
Salt
Pepper
3 – 5 stem of parsley, finely chopped

How To Cook
Place the meat in a mixing bowl and add in all the ingredients of meatballs. Mix together with the meat and roll into small balls using the palm of your hand. Place the meatballs on the tray or flat plate that has been covered with flour.

For the sauce, heat the olive oil and the butter in a pot over medium heat and than saute the onion. Add in the tomatoes paste, crushed tomato and beef stock and heat through. Season with salt and pepper, and bring it to boil.

Flour the meatballs and drop it into the sauce pot, stir thoroughly. Reduce the heat to a little bit under medium-low and simmer to thicken slightly, 10-20 minutes. Sprinkle some chopped parsley on top. Serve it with Turkish Bread on the side.
